Martha Stewart's AI Startup Hint Raises $10M to Predict Home Maintenance
Martha Stewart cofounds Hint, an AI home management app that predicts maintenance needs before things break. Backed by $10M seed round led by Slow Ventures.
What Is Hint?
Hint is an AI-powered home management startup cofounded by Martha Stewart, home-services veteran Yih-Han Ma, and AI engineer Kyle Rush. The app notices problems — leaky ceilings, expiring insurance, high utility bills — before the homeowner does.
How Hint Works
The setup is remarkably simple. Users provide their address, and Hint pulls public data on the property: weather patterns, soil conditions, air quality, local listings, and environmental signals. Users can also upload inspection reports, warranties, and insurance policies. Hint then builds a living record of the home's history and needs.
The Origin Story
The idea was born at Easter brunch on Stewart's farm, where she met neighbor Kyle Rush — an AI engineer. Stewart realized he was describing software she'd imagined for years: technology that proactively manages your home instead of reacting to crises.
The Funding and Launch
Hint raised $10 million in seed funding led by Slow Ventures, with participation from Montauk Capital, Tusk Venture Partners, Amplo, Energy Impact Partners, Hannah Grey, and The Points Guy founder Brian Kelly. The app launches on desktop and iOS this summer.
FAQ
Q: When can I download Hint? A: Hint launches summer 2026 on desktop and iOS. You can likely join a waitlist on their website.
Q: Is this a smart home device? A: No. Hint is a software platform that uses public data and uploaded documents — no hardware or IoT devices required.
Q: How is this different from existing home management apps? A: Hint isn't a checklist or marketplace. It uses AI to proactively predict issues and surface recommendations based on your specific home's data profile.
